Common Military Terms

KATUSAKorean Augmantee To United States Army. The KATUSA program provides the U.S. military with Korean-speaking soldiers, allowing greater military functionality and maneuverability throughout the Korean peninsula. 

SQUADRON - An Army Squadron is an armored cavalry, air cavalry, and/or other reconnaissance unit whose organizational role parallels that of a battalion and is commanded by a lieutenant colonel.

TROOP - An Army troop is a military unit, originally a small force of cavalry, subordinate to a squadron. A cavalry troop is equivalent to an Army company and is commanded by a captain.
